River Lot 11 acknowledges the historic river lot originally home to Métis landowner Joseph McDonald.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOpened in 2018, the park features work by local and national Indigenous artists: Tiffany Shaw (Edmonton, Alberta), Amy Malbeuf (Rich Lake, Alberta), Duane Linklater (Moose Cree First Nation, Ontario), Jerry Whitehead (James Smith First Nation, Saskatchewan), Mary Anne Barkhouse (Nimpkish Band, Kwakiutl First Nation), and Marianne Nicolson (Dzawada’enuxw Nation).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTiffany will provide an overview of the park and in-depth insight into her installation, \u003cem\u003epehonan\u003c\/em\u003e. This installation is inspired by the idea of “pehonan” (Cree – gathering or waiting place) and the oral traditions of Indigenous people as well as the many stories told of this area. Capacity is limited to 20 participants per time slot, and registration is required. She holds a BFA from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) University, a Masters in Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) and is currently working at Reimagine Architects and recently started an Indigenous owned consulting company, named Reimagine Gathering. Shaw has exhibited widely including the Architecture Venice Biennale, Winnipeg Art Gallery, Pier 21, Agnes Etherington Art Centre and the Chicago Architecture Biennial. She has been the recipient of multiple public art commissions such as Edmonton's Indigenous Art Park and Winnipeg’s Markham Bus Station.
